I need to get about 3 hop rhizomes.  I'm not particular on the variety, just wanting to get 3 plants started before it's too late.

Any suggestions on vendors?  Nothing locally and the cheapest shipping I can find for 3 rhizomes is $7.95--basically the same cost as the rhizomes.

If you want to grow hops, I can't say enough for Great Lakes Hops. They sell crowns. It's the best way to a successful planting and stronger plants.

Yes, it's a plant with roots. It's kinda like a super rhizome. not necessarily sprouting, but it won't take long to start.

i've been giving people pretty good sections of root with sprouts already coming out.  probably half way between rhizome and crown.

That's pretty much a crown.

That is what you get from them sometimes. Sometimes it's sans sprouts.

To bad you weren't a little closer Hines, you can come dig out all the Cascades you want here. Mine are over 4 feet tall already. Chance of freeze tonight though, so we will see what happens.

matt I have actually heard reports of sleet and snow in the area today.  What a mess.

If I hadn't been gone the past two weekends, and going to be gone the next two, I would drive down and dig some up.  I appreciate the offer.

Cascade would be the can't lose variety to order. "Born and bread in North America. Modern plant that should be a proven hearty plant to grow."Personally, I had great results with Mt Hood. A hearty and very useful breed. Some citrus plus some noble spice. Modern plant "designed" for north America.

Not sure you will find any citra rhizomes.  I believe that is a proprietary hop and proprietary hops have a 20 year patent I believe..  You could scale some fences and "borrow" some but I do not believe there is a legal way to get any.  Similar to Amarillo and many of the new popular hops.
