I don't know if you guys saw this, searched a little but didn't see it.  This article made its way through social media somewhat viral, in the way conspiracy articles tend to do.  Then a couple of craft folks, like Mitch Steele and Todd Parker, tore it up.

8 Beers That You Should Stop Drinking Immediately is a post by "Food Babe" which rants with all those typical conspiracy buzzwords: GMO, toxins, cancer.

So then a bunch of people who actually know what they are talking about posted their debunking.

I saw the original posted by some people I had a hard time believing they didn't see through the BS.  But then again, it was posted without comment, so I can't tell if they were agreeing or poking fun at Food Babe. The irony is that I agree with drinking beers other than the ones on the list, but the reasons are so far from reality.

The Newcastle beer has been found to contain caramel coloring. Class 3 and 4 caramel coloring is made from ammonia, which is classified as a carcinogen. “The one and only” beer with cancer causing qualities.

According to Wiki, the E150 used in beer is known by the state of California etc... Learn sumthin' new every day.

It was talked about on FB quite a bit.  It's a pretty ridiculous article and easily debunked by anyone with a clue.  It makes you wonder where she came up with that crap.

She got it from Dr. Andrew Wakefield.

Yeah, terribly sad what that man unleashed on the world.  The whole 8 beers to stop drinking just wreaks of simplistic nonsense.  Like the idea that using ammonia to manufacture something automatically makes it carcinogenic.  Forget coloring additives, yeast is made using ammonia.  Dry yeast manufacturers will use something like a 10% ammonia solution as source of nitrogen in a batch fed propagation process.  I guess that means beers made using dry yeast are giving us cancer, according to Food Babe "logic".

I also love that the all natural alternative to Bud is Heineken.  It would blow my mind if I hadn't had a lot of exposure to conspiracy wackiness from an old friend.

you should check out the same thread in the PH.  Denny posted a link where people, pro's, responded to this wackiness and it was quite a good read.

Word, I didn't search for a thread in the PH before posting, just the Beer forum, but I think I maybe posted the same link in the OP of this thread.
