So since the old hoppy MLPA tasted good, I figured I'd try a lager that I brewed over a year ago. It had some acetaldehyde flavor in it. Well, proof is in the pudding. It still sucks. Age did not help that beer. So, it's going to be given to the beer gods.

I have several kegs of old beer at my house that need to be tried before the alter of the beer gods. The sacrifices will commence!

I still have many beers as old as 5 years (all in bottles).  Sometimes age is kind.  Often it is not, and those get dumped.  But sometimes you will be very pleasantly surprised.  The ones that survive are wonderful for special occasions.

I have 2-3 bottles of 5+ year old English olde ale.  Last I had one it was def oxidized but not in an offensive way.  it kind of goes with the style.

I currently have a keg of RIS from Aug '07.  Its a Yeti clone.

It got pretty beat up in my move and there is some oxidation, but not so much that its not drinkable.

I have a braggot that is about 9 years old now. I would say it is good, but it is way too sweat for me, and I only drink it about once a year or so. I have a barleywine from 07, I believe, and liquid stupid from 08.

I like that braggot.

Do you still have that persimmon wine?  That should be getting up in age as well

Rich, I don't want to say that your beer isn't "old", but check this out if the link works properly... 170-Year-Old Beer Found.

I would say that your beer is not even an infant... more like a sperm. Might we have found the secret Schwanz ingredient? :P

I just discovered a partial keg of a sour i made (Roselare blend) that is 6 years old...when i brewed it nobody around was into sours and they all lambasted it.  I pulled it out and amazingly it has little to no oxydation and is actually very nice.  I bottled a few swing tops and shared them; now that sours are the "it" thing folks have raved about it.  Crazy!

I have some RIS that's probably 4-5 years old.  It was good last time I tried it, but it's been a while.  I also have some bottles of Thomas Hardy's from 1994.  That's a bit older.  ;)

Ha!  Just realized that kids who were born when that Thomas Hardy's was bottled are now of legal drinking age!

Last night I found a few bottles of barleywine that I made about 8 or 9 years ago.    I threw one in the fridge, going to try it tonight. Tasted like ass back then, i'm certain it still will....

I just got back 5 bottles of barrel aged RIS that I made 4 years ago. My parents had them in her dorm fridge. She sold it at a garage sale this weekend.
