What sized bottle are you getting filled for 12 bucks!?!?!  20# is like $30 here now.

And yes, soapy or starsan water is your friend.  Minimize connections in the design.  Dont skimp on the manifolds.  You dont have to loose that much CO2 with a cobbled together manifold before you are at the cost of the nice micromatic manifold.  I have been here done this several times with several systems.

It may not be a Micromatic one ( my leaking secondary regulator was though) but I have had good like with this one from Rite Brewing https://www.ritebrew.com/product-p/843667.htm

5# tank is $12.  I think my 20# tank is $15.  just a local welding supply shop.

I think it's just something to block up the hole.  they make other versions of this where they just keep adding outputs to the left side.

I have a bottle of soapy water I spray over all my connections whenever I swap bottles to check for leaks.

I use the spray bottle of Star San that I keep nearby for the taps to check for leaks.

I am almost 100% positive that is a safety pressure relief valve.

That is what I thought because I have something similar on one of my spunding valves.

And like clockwork I went home last night and my tank was empty.  I am hoping it is because I was carbonating a keg and the tank was already low.. fingers crossed!

so the T part that the check valve threads into was either cracked or I just cracked it by over tightening (roar!!!).

I could buy this thing from B3 and I know it will work but really I only need the T:

You could get a T from Lowes or HD, but it wouldn't have that bracket on it I suppose if you need that.

I figure that and no, I don't use the bracket so that would be just fine.  I'm really surprised how soft brass is.

Haha. I am similar. I have two 50# tanks and just 5 20# tanks now. I used to have more 20# tanks and some smaller, but I culled the herd to just a limited number of 20# and the two 50#.

I have about 5 regulators or so, all bought used, along with multiple manifolds and secondary regulators. I know I have leaks, and it became less worthwhile to find the leaks and try to fix them, so I do what most have posted about here, just turn on the CO2 when needed, and disconnect all lines. I also have 14 kegs on tap, so building a manifold to keep gas on all of those would be highly impractical. I have been using one of the 50# tanks just for serving for around 9 years now. Haha.
