So I'm brewing the Golden Strong this weekend. Normally I'd use the clear or golden belgian candied syrup, but I have am urge to try the sugar cane syrup. I'm gonna have to make a trip to see if I can get some. Could be expensive either way. I need 4 pounds of it.
Plans, secret ingredients, and beer stuff...

Opening a brewpub is a long term uphill slugfest. Getting closer to our goal. Lost out on several good options so far due to lease/property shenanigans. Got hit with a big blow last week but the next day a huge opportunity fell in our laps. Glad you are making headway. One advantage we have around here is there are 300k + people in the immediate area and no real brewery options. A friend of mine opened a brewery in the past few months here with a small taproom but nothing brewpub specific except for a tourist trap (Big Texan Steakhouse Brewpub) most of their beers are ok but not great, more for the I40 crowd on the highway.

I mentioned in the other thread that I ended up buying the 100% sugar cane syrup and using it on the golden strong. Couple things...
I didn't measure the gravity contribution of the syrup for calculations. I used 6 pounds. I have one extra bottle. I think I need to get a gallon of water and weigh out a pound of the syrup and mix the two together. That should tell me what the contribution to gravity is in points per pound per gallon right? OR do I need to make the whole volume a gallon to get the right contribution?
I was a little under in my gravity, only 1.070 on this brew. I was tweaking some variable to try and get my volumes right and ended up dilluting the brew a bit. Compound that with not knowing the gravity contribution and it's a little low. No big deal though. It will be beer and I think it will be tasty.
Cheers!

Kegged and carbonated. I tried it and it seemed to be missing a little something so I steeped some coriander and grains of paradise in some vodka and added it. I think that did the trick. The cane syrup I used was a bit darker than the usual stuff you would use for a BGS so the color is a between orange and gold. Tastes good. The lower abv is nice, not too boosy. Gonna take this one to a beer meeting and get some feedback.
