Does that mean you will be serving soft drinks?

I dunno. You know TPW has been bugging me for years to make root beer. I have all the ingredients. I never got around to do it.

all soft stuff that touches that root beer will be for root beer only from that point on.  I had a used keg that was obviously root beer.  all non-metal parts had to be replaced.

Good to know. I could always use homebrew kegs for soda.

Just got a bottle of Funky Buddha maple bacon coffee porter last night. It's rather high on the traders list. I think I'll brew a clone beer to make fun of them and call it Tree Sap Pork Belly Latte Stout.

I am sure Rich's beer would be better than Porkslap.

That's unfortunate. I had some mediocre and outright bad beers last night. I know breweries have to sell beer, but what is worse losing a reputation for brewing good beer or losing out on the material and labor cost for a batch that sucks?

undoubtedly!

That had to be the most unmemorable sampler I've ever bought.

Hopefully they've gotten better, but I'm not willing to risk the $$$ to find out.

Maybe this Florida beer was one of them...  Swamp Ape DIPA. I was given one last night. Not impressed. Had 2 sips and dumped. Hot alcohol, damn near soft drink sweet with that pseudo-caramel oxidized hop flavor. No bottle date.

You guys are gonna kill it down there schwanz.

There's breweries that do better than that. That beer is by Florida Beer Company. They are a contract brewer and conglomerate that have bought up a bunch of brands in FL. They aren't really a craft brewer per say, I'd give them the "crafty" moniker.

There are good beers in FL. What I don't want to do is out grow my quality controls. Too many breweries are growing too fast. The quality is suffering because of it. It's my understanding that the distributors are basically going ape shit crazy to get beer from the breweries. Even Coppertail was telling me that their distributor was demanding more beer already and they brewed 450bbl this last week! The temptation to try and put out more beer faster to get more money is a strong one, but I think it's the wrong decision in the end. I see too many breweries around here fighting to change their reputation because their beer sucked. It's the classic tortoise and the hair. I intend on being the tortoise.

Bump...

There are things brewing... I'm pretty hopeful right now, but I've been burned before so I won't count my chickens yet...

More good news...

County says OK to the location, no manufacturing zone needed.

Wet zoning might need to be changed with a waiver, BUT might not need a hearing. it was previously a bowling alley and it's wet zoned, but not for off premise sales. We need a waiver for that, but they said since it's already in the same category we might not need a hearing.

Churches are across the street, but since they don't own the property they don't apply to the zoning laws (they are in a small strip center).

Now all we need is a lease from the owner.

This is getting exciting.

Nice!

So are the bowling lanes still there?  That would make a sweet bar top.

Na, it hasn't been a bowling alley in about 30 years. I'm amazed it was wet zoned, I think the county changed those laws not long before it closed.

Agh, my mistake.  Well at least the wet zoning is good for you.

Sorta, we'll need a waiver and at worst a variance. Waiver would be under $1000, variance would be about $3000.
