My suggestions:

1. Insulate the MLT

2. Keep liquid level above the top of the grain bed

3. Better manifold design (maybe false bottom will help)

False bottom will be here Wednesday. I plan on brewing something quick and cheap when it gets here.

Yeah good plan. I have over a half a sack of Vienna and a 5gal batch won't use much. I was thinking cheaper and using 2-row but I have confidence it will turn out fine. Going to brew tomorrow as soon as that false bottom shows up. I got the day off so I'll prep in morning and knock it out in the afternoon.

Yeah it's a elbow in the center.

So I kegged my Vienna beer I made with the new FB. It tasted great going into the keg and attenuated to 76% with us05. Not perfect but better than before. Since it was only a 5 gal batch I could easily monitor the temps in the mash tun at all points. Everywhere except one small spot stayed a constant temp that I had set. I'm sure if I had a better return than a hose it would fix that. Also I need to open the gap on my mill because a lot of particles are getting through. Overall happy with the results.
