Dick Cantwell confirmed this AM via email that he has now officially resigned from Anheuser-Busch and Elysian. Cantwell says, ” I’m a craft brewer, first of all, for all its muddiness of definition, whatever I end up doing.”

I didn't think he'd last long with his new corporate overlords.

He didn't want to sell out.  He was pushed by the other 2 partners.  I think AB wanted him to be the face for craft beer in their portfolio, but kudos to him for not selling out to the Man.

Guess he couldn't brew it the "Hard Way" :stabby:

He can't have a brewery in Oregon or Washington anytime soon due to non compete. But he does have a home in SF with the founder of New Belgium. So he could do that. Frankly, he doesn't have to do anything though. He's 56 years old and a multimillionaire.

I'm sure AB came in and told him about all the corners they were going to cut to make the product "better" (wink wink).  He said 'I'm out!'.  Just speculation from a corporate flunkie.

More like they ripped his heart out of his chest, did a jig on it, and he couldn't do a damn thing about it.

One thing i've learned about corporate life is that it's always "better" for the customer to make the product cheaper.  Of course, you charge them as much or more when you make it cheaper.  I know it's confusing, but don't worry, the people in charge know what they're doing...
