Hey Fellas, putting the final decisions out there for an Amber Ale this Sunday. I wanted something of rich color, malty but not over the top malty. I haven't used the simple Cascade in quite awhile and recently picked up a pound. So I want the cascade to come through at the finish but desire enough bitter to balance the malt - hence the humble but proud Magnum. Here's my current run at an Amber. Style: American Amber Ale TYPE: All Grain Boil Size: 7.50 gal Post Boil Volume: 5.50 gal Estimated OG: 1.056 SG Estimated Color: 17.3 SRM Estimated IBU: 46.9 IBUs Brewhouse Efficiency: 65.00 % Boil Time: 60 Minutes Ingredients: ------------ Amt Name Type # %/IBU 10 lbs Pale Malt (2 Row) US (2.0 SRM) Grain 1 84.1 % 1 lbs Munich Malt - 10L (10.0 SRM) Grain 2 8.4 % 6.1 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt - 40L (40.0 SRM) Grain 3 3.2 % 6.1 oz Caramel/Crystal Malt -120L (120.0 SRM) Grain 4 3.2 % 2.1 oz Midnight Wheat (744.0 SRM) Grain 5 1.1 % 0.70 oz Magnum [14.00 %] - Boil 60.0 min Hop 6 39.0 IBUs 1.00 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Boil 10.0 min Hop 7 7.9 IBUs 0.70 oz Cascade [5.50 %] - Steep/Whirlpool Steep Hop 8 0.0 IBUs 2L starter WLP 004 Irish Ale (best by 3/2015) Yeast 9 - Mash Schedule: Single Infusion, Medium Body, Batch Sparge. I'm estimating my mash at 152 F.

I would like it less bitter but the recipe looks good.

I had the Magnum a little lower originally but threw in a couple more rabbit pellets since it's a year old (yet dutifully stored).

They may have lost some AA. I think they store pretty well.
