Ok... so I've got two kegs going to a family reunion this next weekend.  We leave on Friday and have a gold outing with 20 of the family on Friday... starts at noon.  Probably can't get into the hotel room until afterwards.  After that, we need to store my 2 kegs and 1 keg a cousin is bringing, and in theory keep them chilled until the next day.  Cousin is bringing 3 large buckets that will hold each keg.  Reunion and beer officially start (flowing) at noon on Saturday.

What are the thoughts on keeping chilled?

Is dry ice a "no-no" with stainless steel?

Last time I went, we actually had a place to store it overnight on site.  We are not at the same place this time.

I may call the hotel and see if they have a walk-in fridge we can store overnight.  Otherwise, I think someones tub might be getting filled with ice and kegs.

Exchanged an empty canister for a filled CO2 tank today.  Have some clean cobra taps with 10 feet of line each.

I guess I just need some last minute advice.  (Oh... it's a Hefe, so disturbing the yeast is not a huge issue.)

mic has the simplest idea as I see it. All you would have to ensure is ice. Periodically siphon out water from melted ice. Keep adding to ensure the kegs stay cold. Clean, dry and return the trash can to Homey.... :)

Agreed. A large container or three large-enough containers and ice from the hotel. I love the idea of asking the hotel if they could store them in a cooler. Any hotel with a restaurant is going to have at least a small walk-in cooler, probably. The only issue I could see is that they just won't allow your stuff in there for safety reasons or some nonsense from the board of health. Still, can't hurt to ask. Where are you going anyway? Sounds fun and big ups to you for brewing for the family reunion. Have a great time.

Necessity is the mother of invention my friend. As I've heard it put, "I'd tap that...."

Ok... so here's what the cousin has.

This may be even MORE redneck!  Looks like it will work well on-site.  Will still call the hotel to see if we can store overnight.  I'll explain it that if they have the capability and it's not illegal, that I'll just have to use all of their ice to keep chill overnight!   :goodidea: Actually, I'm not interested in getting anyone in trouble, so will not apply that kind of pressure.  But if they can do it, great!

If the buckets were mine, I'd probably put a small port in the bottom to open up to drain every now and then.

DS: I think it will be a good, temporary solution. Those containers probably won't insulate very well so if you're going to be outside and it's hot, I'm envisioning LOTS of ice being used.

Yes it is on wheels, has a drain and I insulated the inside so it uses less ice and stays cold for a long time.  The current version does have a nice drip tray too.

Dude. All it needs now is alloy wheels and an iPod port and you could cruise up & down the street selling beer! WOOT! I always said homebrewers are crafty.

We aren't expecting the homebrew to last very long.  Last time we kicked one keg in 55 minutes.
