this is REALLY new there though.  we've always had some german beer here or there but this is a complete 180 from how things were for them.

Video said that craft beer has grown by 30% in Germany over the last year. Granted, that doesn't take much, but I bet there will be a revolution in Europe as big as it is in the US. I think London has a big renaissance going on right now too.

I get the sense that the UK is ahead of the continent on this front.  I'm not really sure though.

When I went to Vienna and stopped into 1516 Brewing Company, they had their own version of Victory Hop Devil IPA. The chalkboard said something like, From Pennsylvania to Austria... and A LOT of the people there were drinking it including my wife and I. Also, on another board I used to be on, a German guy was posting and asking about making American styles of beer. He said that he could get his hands on a lot of ingredients but that it was very hard to get American hops and that's what he really wanted. It may not be tit-for-tat as much as "we want access to everything out there so we can have it when we want it".
