I am putting together a document for a presentation I am giving at the next brew club meeting. I volunteered to present on brewing materials, focused on metals and plastics, but I did add some others in there that we use often.

I was hoping that some of you could view what I've done so far (it isn't complete yet), and see if there are any glaring errors. I will most likely make copies for the club meeting, and also send it to the club officers to have available online.

Some of this came from memory, which is what I am worried about, while others I've been researching to find exact values. I have not worried about grammar or sentence structure, I am just trying to get information into the document first, and the veracity of the information is my primary concern right now.

Also, if there is an important material that I am missing, please let me know!

I appreciate any feedback!

I probably don't keep my IC quite as clean as I should.  the only way to make it shiny seems to be an acid wash of some sort and a lot of scrubbing.  as it is now there is a thin layer of what I assume is cooked on wort (kind of brownish).  it doesn't seem to affect flavor or anything.  something I should be concerned about?

Not unless there's lead in it, which there most likely isn't. I doubt that enough copper gets into the beer to cause any problems. I'd think that if the copper ion content of the wort was high enough to be a problem for humans it probably wouldn't ferment well either.

well, I have now finished with the content. That document became a lot longer than I originally expected. Thanks for the additions. I will continue to edit, so please let me know if you notice anything else!

Any idea what keg lube is made from? At first I thought it was silicone, but I also have some Haynes lubri film, and all I can find on the MSDS is mineral oil (which I thought since it was petroleum based, was bad for typical rubber o-rings), and trade secret stuff.

All the descriptions I am finding on first glance just describe the function of the keg lube. I'll keep looking to see if I can find anything about the type of grease it is, but any help would be appreciated!
