Is it typically for the bags to not be "tight" around the hops. I felt like it days of yore the bags would always seem like they were vacuum sealed but 2 of the 3 bags I just received are not that way.  Drez also recently gave me some nugget that he was looking to get rid of and it was in a similar state that I would guess was like that from the time he received it.  I'm hoping that extra space is Nitrogen or CO2 or something.  What are your experiences?

Pellets are usually tight, leaf is loose.

Not that I've seen.  The whole hops I buy are vacuum sealed just as tightly as pellets.

From hopsdirect? The leaf came in thick mylar bags but the leaf was tight vacuum seal.

Nope, didn't realize the question was specific to them.  I'm talking about Freshops and Hop Heaven.

I buy all my hops from hopsdirect. The pellets def come more vacuum packed than the leaf.  I always split both leaf and pellets into ~6 oz packs and vac tightly with my foodsaver machine. Then into the freezer they go.

I do this after the first time I use the hops.  on initial receipt I typically just leave them in the original packaging.
