Looking like I'll be doing my first brew in a year and a half, woohoo!

Negra Modelo clone with Cal Lager.  Still thinking about the grist and hop schedule...

No sir. You will not use "Cali Lager" in that beer. You will get some 2124 or 830 or 940 or W34/70 and you will make that beer a true lager. Do you read me? Over and out. My work is done here. :D

Okay, my Bordertown Lager (on my site) makes a decent Negro Modelo clone. Check it out and maybe it will help you with grains and hops. Jamil's Vienna would be nice too but slightly heavier maybe. Cheers and welcome back to brewing.

Yeah, i want 940 but the HBS only has WYeast and I don't think they have an equivalent to 940. Also, i'm worried about my AC freezing up with the humidity and trying to keep 50. I haven't used this ferm setup in the summer. I'm hedging my bets here.

Also, i've never used the cal common yeast, so i'm curious.

Welcome bask JKor!

Realbeergal decreed that she wanted a Pliney clone (Zymurgy clone), so I had to order some Columbus (I hate Columbus).  B3 order was just delivered.  Sunday is Pliney day.

you can use 2124 in the Steam beer temp range, it comes out nice and clean, took Judges Special at my local fair's homebrew comp last year with it @ 62F

Yeah, same here.  I got up at 5 AM last Sun. to brew, but I'm not anxious to do that again soon.

Yep.  And you'll end up with a far better beer than with the CA yeast.

Just bought one of those Blichmann burners, so I'm itching to use it. Bought a SQ-14 a couple of months ago but I could never get it to burn clean so I gave up on it and will just use it as a stand for my mash tun. Prolly end up brewing on the 6th as we have that day off too.

Just finished cleaning up.  Not too hot, 89dF & thundershower in PM to cool off.  Hit all numbers.  Not bad for not having brewed in 5 months.
