I've been on the session beer kick for a long time. I originally tried my hand at a session pale (3.2% ABV) back in 2010, I went to focusing on a lot of German beers and APAs from there because the session beer came out really bad, thin and very harsh (despite high caramel/dextrine malt %, high mash temp and 1.014 FG), I couldn't drink it and I haven't gone back to it. I've been loving a lot of the session IPAs coming out but I'm nervous about what I got out of that last session beer and having a repeat. Undeterred, here's my initial recipe:
2.5gal finished wort
2# 2-row
2# Vienna
Mash at 152, 1.044 TG
0.5 oz Amarillo (60min)
0.5 oz Amarillo (20min)
1 oz Amarillo (WP)
1 oz Amarillo (Dry)
Est. IBU: 49
WLP001
I wouldn't mind some thoughts on the hops. I don't usually fuss with blending hops. I wouldn't mind something a little more fruity in the nose. I have no clue about the current hops, though.
