Not insulated and being round will be harder to insulate. The cool part about the vittle vault is that it is square so I can use that foam board stuff. I want to build something that looks nice as well as functional.$30, and you can rig it up so the pedal dispense the beer.

Well, I'm curious to see what you have in my, I just have a hard time imagining spending $56 on a plastic tub for any purpose.

A case of beer?
Fair enough I just won't buy any beer for a couple weeks to offset it (has plenty of beer on tap)

I use the 50 pound Vittle Vault for grain storage. Have two of them actually. One for 2 Row and the other for Pilsner. Put small bags of specialty stuff on top and they keep for quite a long time.
Will the 50 pound vault hold 10 gallons plus headspace? Would be interesting to have on hand for double batches. I've just never had to siphon though, and I'm not sure I'd want to drill a hole for a spigot.

I have seen them used for fermenters. This company even sells them as such.

Any idea if that is essentially the 50 pound version?
From looking at pictures I have concluded that it is the 50. I also have the 50 and several of the red-top fermetners that are 13.5g and they are similar sized. If you like I can take a picture of the 50#VV next to my red topped fermetners for a size comparison.

Would be good to see a picture. Although, with the location of where I brew and where I ferment, I think I would have significant issues in "transporting" the bucket.

I fill my 10 gal batched in place using a long piece of silicon tubing.

That's got me thinking... the garage (where I brew) is right over the area of the basement (where I ferment). It might take some convincing of SWMBO to punch another hole (they had to install a Radon Remediation Pipe when we moved in, so I know exactly where things are at) in the wall, and from there, it's only about ten feet to where my chest freezer is. Although, it stays cool enough down there that I could really get away with doing Ales and save the chest freezer for lagers. That way I could put the 10 gallons on an elevated surface.
Hmmm....

Just ask for forgiveness after you drill the hole.
