Anyone ever had a really foamy mash? It's a first for me.

Should I be concerned?

The new setup i've been using had been creating really foamy mashes. It's in a bucket and the recirculation return drops a fairly significant distance, which i think is creating the foaminess. The entire headspace of the bucket looks like starsan foam when i take the lid off the mash tun to sparge.

The Porter I mashed in Friday night had a head on it like a creamy espresso. Love baby. Love.

Yeah that sounds like love. My mash this morning was pretty foamy on top too.

Sounds like it's nothing to be too worried about.  I added gypsum to the mash this time and it went crazy with foam.  Have never seen that before hence my question.
