how to motivate myself to use liquid yeast again?

I have now. Drez would be the man to talk to. He has used both of those yeasts.

my brother says that the brewer at stoneface told him they use the same yeast as redhook....

I agree that Conan is kind of one dimensional.  I am not sure I would use Conan as a house yeast because i do not think it would work well for what I think of as a porter or a stout or any beer that is not really hop-forward.  Ever since I use 1318 in RB Dark Mild I have been a fan and have used it in about 4 different styles from hoppy to an oatmeal porter and really like how the yeast performs.  For me it would be a better "house" yeast because I think it is more versatile.  **these comments are the opinion of drez77 and only that of drez77 :) **
