I think it's no surprise that a Hefeweissen is my favorite style.  It's probably the only style that I make annually... and sometimes more than one batch (which reminds me...)

At any rate, I saw this article this morning about a Minneapolis based brewery joining forces with General Mills to make a Wheaties Hefeweissen.

I think I may add it to my next batch just for kicks.  Wait... do you think Kix would be good to add to the mash?  Just kidding... I'll try the Wheaties to see what it does.  I can't imagine it would change things too much and is more of a marketing ploy for both companies.

Yeah, probably some preservatives and such in Wheaties that I wouldn't necessarily want in my beer.

I've been to this brewery a couple times. Good publicity for them. My bro said he will send me some when it comes out.

As far as putting cereal in the mash I have seen it done by a few brewers around here. Most notable was cocoa puffs in a chocolate stout.

Is Fulton's Sweet Child Of Vine worth my time? It showed up recently on the shelf. No bottle date though.

That's certainly a concern, but what happens to preservatives during the mash and boil???  Does anyone know?  And I can't imagine putting more than one box in, which really isn't that much in terms of overall weight.

I'd do it just to try and see.  I've certainly experimented with worse... in case anyone remembers my failed secondary of a Hefe with plums.

To be honest I can't remember much about it. It's been awhile since I've had that beer. But Ive never had a beer of there's that I didn't like.

I think it's pretty damn good. I'd say dig in.

I used 2 boxes of shredded wheat in a Blue Moon clone. Tasted very similar to the real deal. Just watch the sodium content.

I know the guys that own Fulton. Three of the four owners took my BJCP class a few years before they started the brewery.

P.S. Sweet Child is a solid beer. Not super exciting, but pretty drinkable. Their War & Peace and Worthy Adversary are both very good.

I once used a box of grape nuts in a beer, the sodium made the beer a bit sweet
