hmmm - slightly sulfury right now which I didn't pick up before but I know that typically fades.

bright and refreshing.  nice body.

the hops are pleasant but not super powerful.  I could almost see adding in a tiny bit of citra with these and having something really good.  maybe I'm wrong.

eta:  it might go well with a drez chinook/citra beer as a third hop in the mix.  the chinook and citra would have be toned down though or you'd miss it.

There is a beer here in MA that uses Galaxy with the Motueka. I really need to brew something with these, I just never get around to it.

another thing I'm doing with the keg that's dry hopped is flipping the keg every 1-2 hours since I'm home today.  I'm hoping that it will increase the contact time.

IME a very carefully proportioned amount of those two would have to be used lest the Motueka is completely lost. IOW, Galaxy presents much much stronger than Motueka. They would go nicely together tho if done right.

Did you mean decrease the extraction time/ increase contact surface area?

yeah.  I figured if the hops compact that I'm not pulling out hoppy goodness.  I worded that poorly but you seem to get what I mean.

Just making sure. I think its not a bad idea at all.

I think I've done this in the past but I'm not sure if it helped.  this is also a fairly cool dry hop.  my basement is currently just under 50F.

I flipped the keg for the last time this morning and now I'll let things settle down in there.  I'll probably officially tap it this weekend to see what the dry hops did for me.

oh man,  I likey the dry hop.

this hop is subtle but really nice.  def has some saaz like qualities along with the lemon.  I think the description is spot on.

only thing I might change is to add a pinch of citra in with the wp and dry hop.  I think it would add just the right special something.

I have taken your advice and changed my recipe to have 14g of citra in the WP and DH

the only reason not to do it all motueka is if you really want to experience what this hop is about.  that's my opinion anyway.

I had some of this beer yesterday.  it's a really nice saison in my opinion.  approachable except for those that can't handle hops.

I think this is pretty much going to be my go to saison base recipe now.  change out the hops to try different ones.  maybe replace a little bit of the pale ale with pils.

That reminds me, how did the Pale Ale malt come across in this one?

it does add a little richness and body.  otherwise pretty similar.

this beer has taken on a slightly hef like quality to it which wasn't there before.  mostly in that there is some banana going on in the nose.  I'm hoping it's just b/c I let a lot of yeast settle and now I'm drinking it and this aspect will go away.  if you don't mind banana it's still a nice beer though.
