I've come to the conclusion I won't be buying any more.  And will dump what I have.  Poor quality IMO.  Too bad, I have quite a bit.  Back to Hops Direct although they report a less than robust harvest.

Interesting, I have not had any issues with the ones I got. All varieties or any particularly bad?

I saw the hops direct email today. I'm warming up the credit card as we speak.

Looks like I picked a good year to have too many hops in my freezer.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I'm sure at some point this year I will pay way too much for a pound each of Galaxy and Nelson.

+1

Curious as well. I ordered a crap load from the 2014 harvest. About used up now but didn't notice anything bad per se. I do like hops direct though too.

The only Hopunion hops I used this year were Simcoe and they were fantastic.

Interesting.  Mine were mostly C hops.  Glad you all were happy with yours.

I assume they were a previous year harvest.  Whenever I've ordered from them it has been a promo and I assume hops they wanted to unload.

I've bought 1+ year old stuff from Hops Direct and had no issues.

I've only used a couple of bags of hop union stuff and it has seemed good so far.  I'll make sure to pay attention in the future.  I have 3-4 lbs of stuff unopened.

FYI, there is no more Hop Union...they merged with Yakima Chief and it's now called YCH Hops.....whatever.  I've never gotten less than stellar hops from them, as have the breweries I know who biy from them.

Interesting.  Maybe they were mistreated before they arrived here.  I bought some years ago from the LHBS and had no issues.  Maybe it's the vendor, maybe I was unlucky.  I've had some I hesitated to use, and shouldn't have.  And some went in the trash after I opened them.  I'm just glad no one else has had issues.

FTR, mine are vacuumed packed and in the deep freezer for storage.

FWIW, I just pre ordered from Hop Heaven.  Without a doubt the absolute best hops I've found anywhere.  They have an eBay store if anyone is interested.

I have wanted to try their since you have mentioned it before.  I will have to wait till they put the 2015 crop on ebay.

I need to take some inventory when I get home and maybe do a pre-order.  prices seem pretty reasonable.

yeah - I noticed that as well.

Denny, any idea on how their prices compare with hop union stuff?

I have no idea.  Frankly, I'm more concerned with quality.  I know HH prices aren't incredibly high, but they're not bargain basement, either.  I expect him to start shipping hops in early Oct. so the web store should be updated soon.  In the meantime, PM me and I can send you an email address for Ted.
