Denny, I'm not questioning the quality of Ted's hops, I trust your judgement on that. But I am wondering if you know what it is he does or what enables him to provide a superior hop product than the more common vendors (Hops Direct, Yakima Valley Hops, Yakima Chief/Hop Union). What is he doing that they aren't doing?

He drives over to Yakima and hand selects the hops, the same way breweries do.  Last year he bought 35K lb.!  He samples different lots and selects the best ones.  I've even gotten brewers cuts from him before.  Those are taken from the middle of a bale of hops that have just been brought in form the processor and are what breweries use to choose hops.  Otherwise, you may be getting blends of what's left from different lots when you buy in small quantities from one of the others.  Of course, you may not, but after trying all those other sources I've settled on HH.

Real good info. Thanks, I may have to give his stuff a try.
