For those of you with meters that have a replaceable probe have you done it?  I have a Milwaukee 102 and recently I have noticed it takes a long time to get to a number.  Long after the hourglass stops it is still changing.  I have also noticed that after I calibrate it in 4.01 and 7.01 test solution it will not read that same number when put back in.  It will be close but around 3.98-3.99 but not back to 4.01.  I have always kept the probe in storage solution and always cool the sample prior to testing so I do not think I have done anything that would cause it to have an issue.  One example was this weekend brewing the sample read 5.22 after the hourglass stopped moving but after about 10 minutes it was at 5.39 close enough to my estimated 5.4 I was looking for.

Mine is the 101 but it is the same probe. Mine takes some time (5-7min) to settle as well. It also takes time to settle in the calibration solutions but does settle on the correct number. I have a feeling I am getting close to end of life for it but as long as it is still accurate and testing normally I'll probably keep it going. I have an extra probe on hand that I got free from Milwaukee (long, good customer service story) I don't have the hourglass thingy on mine so I can't say how the time to measurement with mine compares to yours WRT that.

Well, that does me me feel a little better.  I will have to let them sit in the calibration solution a bit longer to see if they settle out.

FWIW my probe is 2+ yrs old. Every time I dip it in the cooled mash it first reads way off and then gradually drifts toward my target pH.

Odd, now I get an EC error code as a try to calibrate the meter. EC means wrong buffer solution but I just got brand new calibration solution. I plan to change the battery and see if that makes any difference.

Damn, I was hoping battery. Did you try calling Milwaukee costomer service? I have found them quite helpful.

Me too!  The new battery did let it calibrate without the EC error but something is still wrong.  After it was calibrated I cleaned off the probe with distilled water and put it back in the 4.01 solution.  It quickly started moving down and stopped around 3.85.  I did the same with the 7.01 solution and it settle around 6.95.  2 batches ago my pH was predicted to be about 5.4 and it was reading in teh high 4's and I did what I could to get it to read back over 5, adding in some baking soda.  That beer did not come out as I imagined so I am thinking something we clearly wrong with the meter back during that brew.  It did calibrate fine that day though.  I have hopes to brew this weekend but only if I get the new pH Probe.
