Anyone see these?  Expensive for sure but a very nice keg that supposedly has great interior welding.  All stainless.  LINK.

I have seen mention of them but have not looked at them till now. They look like a nice alternative and the price is not that bad. I am not in the market seeing I am debating selling some of my current kegs.

They do look nice. Agreed on the pricey point though. I think you can come out ~$30+ cheaper using recon cornies. I can see them appealing to those new to kegging so as not to have to worry about them leaking, having to rebuild etc.

considering they are pretty much 100% guaranteed to work out of the box the price seems about right.  I have some kegs that are slightly problematic at times b/c they were so abused in their former life.

A brand new corny keg costs about the same, no?

You think that's expensive for a brand new keg?  Good price, IMO.  Especially if the welding is determined to be high quality.

Check out McMaster.com, they sell 5 gallon ASME pressure tanks (essentially, cornies) for $400/ea.  $80 is ridiculous.  The margins must be nothing on those things.  I can't wrap my head around how they make such things so cheaply.

Well, I have 10-12 kegs in the house so $800-$960 if I were to completely replace my supply (which I am not doing). That starts to approach "real money" territory. No one sees my kegs unless I'm cleaning them. They're in a completely different room than the faucets so there is no visual appeal except for my own eyes. But someone on the B3 site mentioned how nice it was to be the first to use a keg that was made for beer and not soda... I hear that.

Saw some of those while I was touring the Morebeer stores last week.  Very nice looking, good price.  The only downside was that they're a bit shorter than ball lock kegs, which means they're a bit wider.  I couldn't get three across in my serving fridge like I do with ball locks.

No different than having pin locks. I have multiple of each type. I really have no preference. I'll be selling a bunch of them soon.

kind of surprised they changed the dimensions.  must have brought the price down for some reason.

Those definitely look nice! They are definitely priced well, but still way out of budget for me though, especially considering how many kegs I have, and that I am actually selling some kegs to fund other areas of the hobby, as well as other hobbies!

As for dimensions, the only thing I can think of is the amount of metal required for the wider keg should be less due to a lower surface area to volume ratio. I don't know about stock metal sizes, so that could also be a factor.

That's true.  But pinlocks wouldn't fit my fridge, either.  I guess what I was getting at was that they look good if you're set up for the size.

I have 2 fridges that hold 2 ball-lock kegs each and the fit is pretty snug. Would that mean that these (being more like pin-lock... wider) may not fit into my fridge? That would be really unfortunate if I ever decided to pick up a few of these.

That's what it looks like. They list the diameter as 9.125, but I don't know if that is at the top, or at the max. Either way, most ball locks seem to be around 8.5 inches in diameter, and most pin locks are around the 9 inch range, which would still make them not work for your uses.

I measured the width of a ball-lock at just under 8½" and the inside width of my Danby 4.4cf fridges comes to 18¼" across. So sounds like 1¼" to spare as it is. If these were 9.125 that would come to exactly 18¼" and maybe if I slightly staggered them I could get two to fit. Or maybe one Torpedo and one old-school ball-lock in each fridge could work. Again, I don't see myself buying these but you never know.

The price isn't bad at all for new kegs. If I was new to it, I would be tempted, but I have a LOT of cornies, both ball and pin. The amount of time and money I spent getting them all functional..... Something to consider. I'm kind of confused why homebrewers haven't really switched over to sankey. Not so much the old school guys, but more the new folks. Old ways I suppose
