I brew outside w/ a propane burner, and use Blue Rhino propane tanks as the fuel source.

Well, in the middle of the boil for today's batch, my first tank ran out.  No big deal, I hooked up the full spare tank and turned on the valve.

And i heard a loud hissing sound and immediately smelled propane.  Uh-oh.

Investigation led to the valve/knob assembly on the propane tank as leaking/defective.

Called up Kroger's (where i get my tanks swapped) and told them what happened.

They said they'd swap out the tank for free and contact Blue Rhino to take them to task.

Crisis averted.

run into that problem myself.  really annoying to have to run out mid grilling or brewing to take care of shit like that.

I hate when the tank runs dead but you know there's still weight in it but won't come out. A trick I learned from the Propane guy; only quarter turn the knob. That's more than enough to expel the propane and allows all to be used.

Also put the tank in a tub of water. Keeps it from freezing and it will run dry.

Schwanz, do you and me really have to worry about that in the blistering conditions in which we make our potions and cast our spells?

Yes. When the tank gets low it will freeze. Happens every time I brew.
