Now that I have a garage again I'm going to build myself a brew stand for my setup.  Its going to be a gravity setup and will have a permanent  place in my garage. Below is a pic of what I plan on building.  I'll have to wait until Christmas is over so I can move the stuff back in the house we had to move for the tree.   Ill make sure to post build pics.

My neighbor built something like that but without the whole bottom level, just sits the kettle on the ground

I have a similar idea but it's a little less unified.

MLT goes on top of the SQ14.  drain into the cooler (MT).  drain from there to a burner on the floor.

You could always just have some wheels on teh back so you can move it if needed.  Lift the front and wheel it around. Have them off the ground a bit so they do not touch till the front is lifted up.

I'd have the boil kettle raised so you get good run off into your fermenter without lifting it.

Are you opposed to getting a pump (or two if you fly sparge) to lower it down to a single tier?

Personally, I am paranoid about 185F water above my head and having to be on a ladder while doing brewing tasks when I've been drinking.

Well I started the brew stand, Its a little different then the pic I posted due to my equipment and height restraints. I'm not going to deck the bottom level, Ill let the boil burner sit on the floor inside the lower level.  The spacing between the second and top level is also smaller,  this is due to my burner height being enough to get the HLT above the mash tun.

First thing I did was make the three levels

Then I added the uprights and put on the two other levels.  In the background you can see Bella drawing on my truck with a pencil.

Added a cross beam for stability.

Put a coat of stain on it and added some handles to the front and wheels on the back that only touch the ground when you lift the front up.

After staining it I decided to add a crossbeam to the upper level for more support.

Still need to add the plywood to the second and top level.

Oh I forgot to mention I put one coat of poly on it and will put another on after I add the plywood.

Oh yea,  Ill be putting some trip around the top shelf to keep the legs of the burner from falling off the shelf.

even I have something holding my SQ-14 in place and it's at 1/2 the height!

Not my setup, but the burners are bolted to the stand

there is no reason to have the HLT level that high.  you've got it right in your design.  it only needs to be slightly higher with no need to make something so top heavy.

I was more worried about the height than whether it was bolted. A keg of 170f water above my head? No thanks.

Even if the keg is somehow attached to the burner the overall height makes it unstable.

Oh come on, live a little...with 3rd degree burns all over your body!

FTFY.

Nice stand, BTW.  ;)

Looks a lot like what I used to have my system on.  It worked fine except for the time it caught on fire because the burner was too close to one of the supports.  I used to use the old 175,000 btu jet burner which wasted an absolute ass-ton of heat around the side of the kettle, I'd go through half a tank trying to boil outside in the winter.  I'm sure it won't be an issue with the newer burners.
