Good tips!  I rarely imbibe while brewing.  Lots of bad things don't happen then.

I sometimes do, but usually not until flame out. Nice to sip a beer while stirring while the chiller does its work. But I seldom get into before that point.

I generally do all of this stuff but this one I haven't found to be true:

If you brew outside or in your garage with a propane burner, think safety! If you put the burner on a wooden deck, think about a heat shield under it.

generally I've found that the ground under the burner isn't even warm.  it's to the sides that gets a little warm (and obviously above gets plenty warm :P).

That's been my experience, too.  But I've seen burn marks on decks from burners, so I know it happens.

any details regarding that?  maybe a specific type of burner?  I use an SQ14.

Don't recall the burner model.  If I can get ahold of the guy, I'll ask.

I should clarify that I have one or two over the course of the brew.

if it's not enough to catch a buzz I figure I'm okay.  past that I might forget something.

As I've gotten older my tolerance has decreased.  Even one would make my brewing more difficult.

I usually wait until I'm cooling down,if at all.

I just hate doing the clean up after I've been drinking.  For me, it's more pleasurable to wait til everything is done.
