Anyone seen this yet?  https://scottjanish....oils-calulator/ along with this post on all thing hoppy https://scottjanish....ma-and-flavor/

I put my Chinook/Citra house APA into the calculator and came out with the results below.  I think this could be a pretty cool tool to help you steer a recipe hop wise.

I like this. I've noticed if I use multi varieties with similar low oil levels the hop character won't come out where I want it. I've been comparing hop oils and using contrasting levels to add hop character. This will help. Thanks.

I want to play around with it and single varieties to see what character comes from what hops.  I do not think it will be accurate all of the time but it is a real good place to start.

that other link you posted is interesting.  is the decreased hop oil extraction in the bags due to the bag itself or is it a situation where the hops don't have room in the bag to float around?  I have a hard time imagining that a large bag or SS screen is going to affect much if the hops have room to move around within the bag/screen.

I would imagine it would be from and over stuff bag, that has PH written all over it!

it really makes me sad that those keg dip tube screens don't really work for pellet hops.  getting a sanitized filtering apparatus full of hops and into the keg is my least favorite part of dry hopping.

I have been happy with my DH method but it is still a bit of a PITA.

I suppose this will get you in the ballpark. I wouldn't rely on it as a tool though. Your taste buds will be much more accurate.

I agree, but like any calculator it can be helpful in the recipe creation aspect of brewing.

Yeah, I thought about that and it's all ballpark. This is another part of it. I didn't mean to sound snide.

Snide?  Nope, when I read your post it is always in a pirate voice.
