I brew in the basement on a commercial single burner natural gas stock pot range with a kitchen hood vented to the outside. The laundry sink and hot/cold hose connections are right next to the range.

I brew/ferment/serve all in the garage.  I have a 10x10 insulated and heated room in my garage which stays close to 62 all summer long and I keep around 50 all winter so I have no problems making lagers half the year with no refrigeration but if I brew mid summer I may (or may not) have to use a swamp cooler for ales.

I never really minded brewing in the garage in the winter. It was the summer that I hated. In any case I do all of my brewing in the basement (which connects to the garage), other than the occasional 5 gallon batch on the old system.
