recipe will likely be a reaeat brewing of last years tasty German Lager, maybe with a different hop in the finish though, or maybe something new, a CAP type with 20% maize, need to build up a cake for a bigger Maibock

It's been busy here so no brewing. I got an email from iBrew about the Brewtan B that I ordered... it just said, "Your order has shipped!". I have no idea how long it will take to get here but I plan to hold off until it's here. We are going to [what was supposed to be] a backyard BBQ tonight and I was asked to bring beer. I'm not sure that people understand how tricky it is for a brewer to have "portable beer" whenever asked. So this afternoon I put some APA, Czech Amber Lager and Bordertown Dark Lager into growlers and big 750ml bottles to bring with me. I also have 12oz bottles of my Raspberry Ale to bring with me.

Sold mine a few months ago.  It wasn't getting used.  Nelson Wheat = jealous.

Try dropping the corn from the CAP. After doing my ALL with all pils malt I'll never go back.

I hear that. When I mentioned all of this yesterday afternoon, my daughter said, "Just bring a keg" which I could have done for sure. Cobra tap, CO2 tank, boom.

Should be good. Can you also research a way to have the final results for both batches by Saturday? That would be great. :P Keep us posted and enjoy your brewdays.

Fastest 1bbl brew day yet. 8 hours. Usually takes me about 10-12 but thats just because I like to take my time and maybe drink a beer. My brother being there meant no lollygagging. With some upgrades I could probably knock that down by an hour or two easily.

It is. Mtn did you do a send runnings beer or run off some starter wort with the leftover sugars? Or just chuck it?

Almost 50 lbs. of grain.

No we didn't and I felt guilty about it. We discussed it but in the end never worked up sufficient motivation.

That sounds great Mic. What will the SRM be?

about 7, gold with just the hint of copper

I used only 1/4 lb each of the charachter malts

oops totallt forgot the 2 lbs of munich 10L derpy derp derp derp!

I actually tried incorporating a couple of the LODO ideas into this one (within the limitations of my system and or skepticism)

I minimized stirring during cooling, and I had my started yeast in the carboy already when I drained the kettle wort, then splash aerated, and skipped the pure O2.
