Got a new one of these, as my current filter is a little long in the tooth:

For those of youse who use this type of filter, how long do you flush it before the loose carbon is gone and it's good to use?

I have a GAC 10 I installed, and I plan on doing a few minutes each time, maybe 5?

That's the same one I had.  Kept meaning to replace it but then it was brewday.  That was probably about  8 years ago.  Never felt the need to replace it.

I think it was ken that isolated off flavors to his water filters, and since then, I try to always change them out once a year.

Full disclosure: I've had my original filter since 2006 (!).

No time like the present for a new filter, I suppose.
