Pretty sure it is new

For my tastes, US05 and S04 are the only dry yeast worth using (and I use them often for Pale Ales and the likes). They get the intended flavors, or lack thereof with the US05. As Lammpa said, Notty works, but keep it low, however I'd still prefer the first two. All the others have been pretty underwhelming to me. Haven't tried any new ones. As for rehydration, I've noticed less lag time and stronger and faster fermentation after rehydration. I've sprinkled it on top many times and let it sit 10-15min, then stirred it in, but the fermentation was always sluggish comparatively. The beers always turned out fine, but not quite as good. There hasn't been a significant difference in final product, but it's been detectable to me.

I never stir it in.  just sprinkle on top and put the lid on.

That's what I've done for the two times I've used it.

I have used wb06 at least five times.
Of you keep it down closer to 64 than 70, it is fine. If you try to get banana and ramp the temp up, in the cases I did that, it was not good.
Keep it cold and you get what you get. Don't try to manipulate it.

Oops, I may be in trouble.  I was going for the banana and left it at room temp in the low 70's. Initial taste at bottling was okay, but in a few more weeks we'll know more.

Mine was probably about 72... there is banana but also lots of good cloviness, which I was going for. I did also do a ferulic acid rest though to help the cloves.
