I have a pack of 3726 in my fridge from 10/2014. Cant get this PC yeast right now and I read on another board Wyeast was not planning to release it for the remainder of the year. Thought I would give it a go… give me your thoughts. Worth my while or is it dead/mutated?

I'd try it if it doesn't smell bad.  I wouldn't have high hopes though.

Start small and see what happens. I bet it comes back fine.

I'd treat it like dregs. Pitch into 200ml of 1.020 wort.

THIS^^^^  if it takes off, let it ferment out then step it up.

Ok I am doing exactly this. Go with the standard 1.037 on the next step up?

Definitely, as long as it smells fine and ferments out. Probably no more than a liter or 1.5L

Wow, this pack of 3726 was 20+ months old. Pitched this into 200ml 1.020 wort yesterday afternoon. It looked and smelled completely normal coming out of the pack. It is active this morning. Thanks for the tips gentlemen.

I have used some pretty old yeast (6+ months since harvest) with a starter in the past and had great results.  I don't do it as much anymore but it never failed me.
