Just scored a free single tap, very old kegerator, which will end my inability to ferment at lower and consistent temps.  Although it sounds like an old small Sears & Roebuck outboard motor, it's cooling pretty well.  The tap will come in handy for club events when I need to serve my beers.  My keezer and picnics will remain in use since my whole setup is in the 100F garage.  Other than that, the old bitch will be the designated fermentation chamber.  Finally............

The End.

You keep the keezer wrapped in insulation in the garage?

No.  It's a small unmodified Haier 7cuft.  Holds its own for my 3 corny's.  Picnics stay inside.  Outside taps would be a fungal nightmare.

STC 1000 to the rescue.  that is assuming it doesn't draw over 10A or whatever those things are rated for.

Says it draws 4 amps. Why is the STC so less expensive? Does the kegerator plug into it?

You have to add a source and load cord and plug but that is easy. Cheap because massed produced in mother China maybe? That and inkbird controllers seem to be the cheapest. Inkbird cab find ready to go on amazon.

Do a STC search on this forum. Deerslyr laid out all the needed components and links to them at amazon a few years ago as well as a youtube video on how to do it. Not hard. I can look later if you don't find it in the meantime.

Also search amazon and look at the pictures in the reviews, plenty of schematics.

They seem to be fine from the reviews I have read on forums.  They use the STC-1000 in some of their products.  I have a temperature controlled WiFi outlet from them that I really should play with one of these days just no time.
