I have 6 ball lock kegs (bought back in 2003, used), and 2 of them have seen better days.  Much better days.

So, i splurged on some new kegs.  As in, brand-new.

AIH was (and may still be) running a sale on new 5-gal ball lock kegs for $75/keg, instead of ~$120/keg.  I got 4, + $16 UPS ground shipping to Cincy.  :D

I'll probably keep futzing with the 2 wonky kegs, but it was time to finally get some new kegs.

What is the "wonky" with the 2 kegs?

mainly the gas-in post poppets leak.

I bought a 12-point 7/8" socket to try and remove the posts, but they're on tight enough to where I fear I may strip the posts.

I might try upending the kegs into some very hot water/PBW and see if that loosens things.

I've been wanting some new kegs for a while anyway, so if these 2 end up being unfixable, I'll still have 8 good kegs to work with, which is plenty for my needs.

…and the price seems darn good for new kegs. let us know what you think of them.

Nice deal!

New kegs are great. You shouldn't have to worry about anything sealing, leaks, etc. I wish I had some myself, but I've got too many now to justify getting any kegs, let alone new kegs!

I bought one of the same kegs new from a local shop. Had issues engaging and disengaging the quick disconnects. Something funky with the posts, could never get it to work right. The QDs were nearly impossible to engage or would get stuck. Ended up having to replace the posts, now it's fine. I hope my experience was a one-off and yours work great. Other than that, the keg is fine.

Kegs just arrived 5 minutes ago; coincidentally, tomorrow is kegging day.  Ya-hoo.  :D

Just got done kegging a batch into one of my new kegs.

The verdict: these kegs rock.

Glad my issues with the posts were isolated!
