I had a bottle of star san I hadn't opened (had it for a couple of years).  it was in a sealed plastic bag (like melted shut kind of thing) with tape on the lids.  but one of the lids was cracked all along the rim so I don't think it was well sealed in there.

so I dump this new bottle into my empty old bottle and called it a day.  is this star san still good?  I shouldn't expect any issues right?

Mix some up and check the pH with your new meter.

It should be fine. I've had numerous star san caps crack on me. I emailed five star one time, and they sent me a few spares for free.

I also had a 1 gallon bottle crack on me on the bottom, and leak a third of concentrate over my basement floor, so keep an eye on those things! I now have it in mason jars.

Star San is a great product, but must come in the crappiest imaginable packaging. What is up with that lid and all the leaks? The only worse container I can think of is toilet bowl cleaner.

My current bottle of Star San hasn't had a lid on the dispensing side for well over a year.

Yup, same here. Every bottle of star san i've had ended up with a cracked cap. The soda caps actually seem to last longer.

I had to start keeping mine in the fridge out in the shop.  That stupid bottle sucks for hot temps out there.  Forces its way out the dispenser side and melts half of the aluminum shelving I had it on before I saw it.  Terrible mess.  Had to chunk the shelving.  Yes I should probably keep it in the house but I try to keep my brewing stuff together.

Dang!  Did not know they fit!  I've had the same problem.  In fact both the lids on the current bottle are cracked.

I think every lid on every bottle of StarSan I ever bought cracked! I usually end up putting a piece of plastic wrap and a rubber band on them!

I'll try a soda lid!

I just want to chime in here to say every one of you is doing something wrong. I have never had a cracked lid on my starsan, ever. Now carry on, and clean up your act.

I think you're doing something wrong if yours aren't cracking!  :P
