There's nothing about the pellets that would allow me to discern the quality of the grind, not that I can tell. Not necessarily correlated with the quantity either.

Mosaic/Equinox- 150g dry, not much particulate

Centennial/Cascade/Columbus- 75g dry, not much particulate

Motueka- 84g dry, not much particulate

Citra- 90g dry, modest amounts of particulate

Galaxy/Cascade- 126g dry, tons of particulate.

ETA: just realized what thread this is, getting pretty OT, sorry!

wouldn't the processor of those hops be a big factor?

Yes, maybe the only factor. Cant be sure. I wasn't really trying to correlate varieties and how much particulate they produce. Just more or less documenting my experience. Now if a bunch of others chimed in and said they noticed a ton of particulate with Galaxy then we might have something.

Maybe use a hop rocket in line full of leaf hops or some sort of intert filter media?

That is what I am planning to try.

one of the kegs is actually not too bad now.  hazy but not full of gritty stuff.  tastes good.

the other still has a bit but I'll see if I can pull some pints to clear it up.

jumping into new kegs right now.  spunding valves are helping to control the flow and are working pretty well.

crossing my fingers!

Just hope none got up into the gauge. The rest is easy enough to clean.

Why were you transferring with a spunding valve attached?

I assume to try and add some backpressure but still allow for it to release and keep flowing.

I don't think you think that I meant that. But just in case… there was no buried implication of that.

Anyhow, I get what Drez was saying with the back pressure. I have no idea about cleaning because I don't have one/ haven't built one.

I thought for sure I posted this earlier in the thread but a quick look shows I apparently did not. Apologies. This works extremely well, even on carbonated beer.

oh no.  it's what I think of myself.  no offense taken.

your method sounds good.  it's kind of what I was going for in that I thought it would be good to have some pressure on the beer since it's carbonated.

Looks right for a NEIPA, did you use a kettle fining?

Love that glass!

I did.  used brewtan and whirlfloc.  I think it's mostly the dry hop that's providing the murk right now.  I'll try to remember to post a pic when it's less cloudy later on.

I have another glass like this that says weihenstephaner.  they are the ones I use the most.
