New from Lallemand. Looks like 002/1968 in dry form. Farmhouse and Williams have it. Who's planning to try it?

if it's actually close to 002 I'd probably use it to make some stuff. 002 was great in bitter galaxy.

Agree. 002 is great in almost everything I have used it in.

I need to get the beer engine working this winter.
That would be very cool. If that happens we may need a video.

Will do! I also recently bought some Irish Ale yeast in the new Wyeast packaging so I'll need to get a dry stout on hand pump.
That sounds excellent. Now I need to go google what this new Wyeast packaging is.
ETA: or did you mean White Labs?

Wyeast, they have new packaging also. I don't think it's a fundamental change like white labs. Just new colors.

Yeah, I'll try it. Apparently a lot of other folks want to, also. Williams Brewing is out of stock.

is this stuff 1 package per 5 gal of normal gravity wort?

I was going to grab a pack or two but then saw 3.99 price tag. For 5.99 I can get a pack of 1098 from Rite Brew. I really like the convenience of dry but it has to make sense economically too.

it seems like $4 is kind of the going rate not just for this yeast but other common dry yeasts like US-05. I'll probably pick up a couple of packets to have in the fridge in case of emergency. I was thinking it might be good to make a bigger version of bitter galaxy. extra special bitter galaxy perhaps? maybe with some different hops as well.

S-05 is 2.99 at Rite and S-04 is 2.89. I can swallow that a bit more since I know one package can work up to 1.060+ from experience. Ironically I am getting some stuff for a galaxy beer!

my LHBS and some of the big online retailers aren't that cheap. I figure for the convenience it's still not awful but I don't like it either.
