denny not using 1450 in his commonly brewed porter?  MADNESS!

Ooops!  Yeah, I do actually...that's an update of an old recipe.

I saw the Nick Danger in my newest and soon to be dog eared beer recipe book.  Looks good.

I make the base recipe w/o the Bourbon or Vanilla about twice a year.

If you're into coffee beers, it's a great base for that, too.

Not a big fan. Never seem to get it subtle.

it is tricky.  has anyone tried just throwing a couple of coffee beans into their glass and pouring a beer on top of it?

Not I. All I've ever done was course crack some beans and it has always been too much. 2 ounces in 5 g's for example.

if you have a stout or porter on tap maybe try it out!  closest I have right now is some denny's noti brown ale (almost gone).  I'm not sure if that would be a good test case.

I have nothing right now to experiment with. The Noti Brown might be worth a crack.

Yep, same here.  Oakshire's is the only one I've tried that I care for at all.

I have a keg of that on tap.  I love it so much I just crushed grains to brew another batch!

Is Nick Danger the one you recommended a specific chocolate or was that Noti Brown?

noti brown uses castle.

note:  I'm not saying he doesn't also use it in his porter.

so I'm thinking I might make this next.  I'll almost def use 1450 so I can then pitch the yeast into another batch of a pale ale or IPA.  maybe denny's RIPA?  it's been a while

Kind of thinking of making it soon myself.  I have an APA in the fermetner right now with lots of oats so I really do not want to brew my Oat-Porter right now but want a porter on.  I also have some 1450 I can build up so this porter than maybe a batch of Holiday Hug.

I will be tweaking the recipe for a 30 minute boil.

Nick Danger or Noti?

it will likely be an amalgam of the porter recipes posted.  I'll take what I like about them, look for common themes, etc.

I have and I love it, but the Noti Brown is where it really makes a difference.
