Their flavor description of Summit is incomplete. Nowhere does it say "goat bawlz or hippie armpit"

Looks like they dropped Onion/Garlic too.  And before it is brought up yes, I know that comes from the time it is picked but I always get it in Summit beers.   I am also surprised they compare it to Simcoe.

I had a really good Summit beer one time. So good it convinced me to buy a pound and replicate it. I failed. I still have some leftover but a few years old now. I should just toss them.

My Yakima Valley hops arrived today... a pound of Nugget at 14.6%. Nice. There was also a syringe in the envelope that's filled with a brown liquid. No explanation of any kind. What's this? I put the hops in the freezer and the syringe in the fridge.

It's Drez's brown acid.

ZOMG, they sent it to the wrong person. I assume it's some sort of hop extract but I have absolutely no idea what it is. None. There was an order/invoice sheet in the envelope which only had the Nugget hops on it.

looks like this. https://www.yakimava...thopshot3ml.htm

HopShot is CO2-extracted resin that can be used for bittering or late additions to boiling wort. The HopShot syringe contains 10 milliliters of extract. One milliliter yields around 10 IBUs in 5 gallons of 1.050 wort when boiled for 60 minutes.

Okay, that explains it. I'm not sure where I would use this but now I know that I could add 2-3ml (20-30 IBUs) of it at the beginning of the boil instead of hops. Interesting. I assume everyone else will be seeing this in their order and I would be interested to know how it worked for those who tried it.

I've never used them but a lot of people seem to like them from what I have read. Bitterness without the vegetal material in your kettle.

I have used them before. Very clean bitterness. They can be a pita since the oil is so sticky.

Spill it!

mix it with vodka before adding to the kettle.  Keeps it from sticking to the sides of your kettle.

Finally, so that's when you add the alcohol.
