They are clean.
I understand what brewers mean when they call Magnum a clean bittering hops, but I've never seen 'clean' used to refer to flavor hops. Can you explain what you mean? Is it just that they taste like German hops?

Brew day from hell yesterday. At the end of the mash I discovered my thermometer was reading 30F too high. Missed my OG by 20+ points.

OUCH!! What did you mash at 180?
I had a high mash too. I thought I set the RIMS to 150 but it was really at 158. I realized after about a half hour of playing in the snow with the kids. Oh well, it will still be find ( I hope )

Nope, more like 120! Hit it with boiling sparge water and got to 153. Let it sit 20 min. Looks like I made "session" Rye IPA...and you KNOW how much I like those!

I suppose I mean German-like. Clean as in "not fruity", "not woody", "not minty" and all of the other descriptors you sometimes hear with hops. No real citrus or anything else like that. Maybe "herbal", "earthy", etc. but that's about it.I understand what brewers mean when they call Magnum a clean bittering hops, but I've never seen 'clean' used to refer to flavor hops.
