So I'll make a pils next.  I'm going to want to reuse my 2124 so I figured an IPL might be nice.  I have a decent selection of typical hoppy hops:

citra, simcoe, cent, columbus, chinook, mosaic, galaxy (others I'm not thinking of).

anyone have any suggestions?  maybe a recipe you really liked?

Just take your fav IPA recipe and use 2124 in place of an ale yeast.

I made one recently with 34/70 and plan to do more.  I really liked it.  I used Loral and Equinox hops.  Grain bill was simple, it is at home but I think Pils, Carapils and a touch of crystal.  Hops at WP and dry hop with just a small bittering charge.

how high of a gravity do you guys usually go with an IPL?  can you get into double IPA territory if desired?

As high a gravity as you want, provided the yeast is healthy and you pitch enough.  Double IPA territory is no problem.

For me, I've gone up to ~1.080 with 34/70 and the resulting IPL was very good.

hmmmm - maybe something pliny-esque would be cool.  I'd rework the hops to be less spread over the boil though.  seems really pointless to my taste buds and wallet.

actually I think I'll do 2 oz of galena and 2.5 oz of columbus at 30 min.  that gets me to about the same place and saves a little bit of my columbus.

When i add cane sugar to a boil, i gently sprinkle it onto the boiling wort, and i add it with ~5 min left in the boil.

never had an issue w/ scorching this way.

I decided to try dissolving it in some wort in a bowl first.  I've had issues in the past.  I think my kettle is pretty thin.
