Its time to put my Barley Crusher to pasture. I've owned it for almost six years, and maintained it as far as manufacturer's instructions with cleaning the mill every brew session. for the past couple of years, the mill wheels would slip, and not feed in the grain to crush, no matter what type of malt as being crushed; having to resort to put my hand under the mill wheel's to "prime" the crush. Even went as far as rotating the grinding wheels for even wear. I'm about tired of dealing with the contraption.

What do you guys like in your grain mill? just looking for some ideas.

I have a barley crusher and did about 100 batches with it. The only quirk I found was I need to put a little grain in to start and once that starts through the rollers I can fill it and if runs fine. The BC is a great value, but I think you are looking to spend more money and get a more industrial one. Good luck!

friend of mine just bought this one but I haven't heard how his first round of grain through it went.  I'll let you know once I hear.

Still rockin the JSP Maltmill here. It's still the same price I paid for it 10 years ago lol. $99 for a barebones. I expect it will outlive me.

I bought a bare bones crankenstein and have been happy with it. I built a hopper out of plywood. For the price, it's very good-crushes like a beast.

Had my eye on either a mm2 or a jsp. Sure there is a easy diy hopper that can be built. It just seems the BC's rollers in my case are just worn and dull; i ran 13 lbs today, and lot of the grain just fell thru untouched. I always check the gap with a feeler gauge before using.

From what i see on the interwebs, there is a lifetime guarantee with the bc, if you can get ahold of them.

I've been using a JSP adjustable for over 15 years and thousands of lb. of grain.  It still works as well as when it was new and it comes with a lifetime guarantee.  I'd be hard pressed to recommend anything else.
