I don't know if any of this is a joke or actual advice.  lol

Frealz, are people doing 30 min boils now?  How does that work with hop additions for bitterness/aroma?

Real.  I have been 30 minutes for well over a year and a half.  No-boil APA just got kegged and the next one will be a 15 minute boil.  You need to take into amount the desired bitterness for your 30 minute addition but WP and steeps really add some perception of bitterness.  I posted a link to a blog post that was a 0 hot side beer, only dryhopped and it tested at 70+ IBU.  Crazy things these days.

That's one thing i like about this Beer forum: the brewers here share knowledge freely.

Differences of opinion/method/etc don't result in insults, name-calling, or other nonsense.

We're all here for the beer, and i'm of the opinion (as I feel most of youse are too), that if I can help someone else, I will.

I got plenty of help when I first started brewing, and it's nice to help others as I've been helped.

i've done probably 5 or 6 30 min boil batches now.  one was even a pils.  hasn't resulted in any problems.  efficiency might drop a little, have to use a little bit more hops but otherwise saving propane and time.

...  I also don't have a kegerator anymore, but I really don't want to bottle so I'm going to have to figure something out there.  I may just keg these and do a slow force carb and keep them at cellar temp.  Then put the keg on ice and share with some friends, and probably also bottle some from there.  Might have to get a dorm fridge and make a new small kegerator at some point.

The comeback brew will be my Skidmark Brown Ale, which is a lower ABV, English style brown.  I haven't made that beer in probably 10 years, and I'll tweak the recipe a bit compared to how I did it back then.

Wish me luck, I'm sure I'll be on here with some questions!

I've got a beer gun if you want to bottle from the keg.
I also have a jockey box you can borrow to serve from.  I also have a 3 tap "trash can kegerator" (taps that fit on top of a trash can, fill it with ice and there you go).
Have some extra fridge and kegerator space if you want ti cooled down and carbed.

Hit me up if I can help you in any way.

Hit me up if you're interested or if I can help in any way.

Hey buddy, I really appreciate that!  I was actually gonna hit you up for some base malt, but I was pleasantly surprised that NB had a flat rate for shipping.  If this brew goes well and I can jump back into the hobby with regularity, I'll probably bug you some.  You do any group buys on bulk grain with the Topeka club?

Thanks for the offer!

We tend to try to encourage buying from the local guy https://allgrainbrewing.biz/
He is up North about 35th and I75.  Hall of Foamers members get 10% off, so you need to join us.  Next meeting is June 14th, 7PM at Norsemen Brewing.

Hit me up for whatever you might need, I have quite a bit in malts and hops.

Come over sometime and have a brew!
Here is what I have on tap:

Surprisingly hit my temps and everything went pretty smoothly.  I *almost* forgot how much cleaning was involved in a brew day.  :)

I thought the pics were good, you don't see them?

I did do a 30 min boil today.  The post-boil wort tasted as I'd expect as far as bitterness, so I feel good about it!
