Bought a keg of Fat Tire last Saturday for a party, have about a 1/4 left. Didn't keep it iced down since then, just sitting in the garage. My keg in the kegerator is almost done, my guess tonight. If I put that fat tire in the kegerator tonight to cool it down, will it still be good? Warm beer to cold and all...

Drinkable if you still like Fat Tire

:troll:

If your garage is really hot that might not be good and it may take a while for carbonation to re-equilibrate.  I'd cool it and see how it is - probably fine.

Not my favorite but that's what I thought would work for everyone, which it did. Plus buying it straight from New Belgium is the bomb. $115 a half barrel.

Thanks, my thoughts too but wanted a second opinion.

It'll be fine.  MIght take a couple of days to get cold and the carbonation right, but I wouldn't hesitate to drain said keg.

Was it set up so that you were displacing the beer with an air pump or with CO2? I assume the latter.

Hopefully CO2; if air, that keg might be doomed.

We're on a brewing site so it's probably a stupid question but I just remember having commercial kegs for a Friday night party (air displacement)... on Saturday it wasn't quite as good and if there was any left on Sunday it was just about undrinkable. If CO2... my guess is it will be just fine once cold.

Agreed on all points.  If CO2 was used to push the beer, then BeersBeers24/7 need only get the keg cold, check that the carbonation is ok to his taste, and drink.

If air was used to push the beer, I think the keg might need to be dumped.

if there is air in the keg it's going to be bad.  no doubt about it.

If there IS air in it, CO2 purge it now if you want to salvage it.

Air

I'll just guess that it won't taste that great after one week on air in a hot garage. CO2 would be better but air after 2-3 days is usually rendering the beer undrinkable. Try it and report back... maybe New Belgium added magic beans to the keg or something. :P

Yeah ill put it on the kegerator and just see what happens. Low expectation so no worries if it sucks.

Warm right now, but definetly drinkable when it cools off. Good head on the pour, not skunky, taste like fat tire.

Skunky wouldn't happen unless the keg was clear glass.  :)  Oxidation is gonna give it a cardboard, stale flavor.  Maybe the biscuit in there will cover it up. lol

IME, the beer would just be "stale" and oxidized so if it tastes good then I guess I'm surprised but happy that it's still good to drink. Get it cold and giddy up. :D

Definetly a little flat. I'll march through it though, I'm a trooper. Then I'll go get a fresh one, probably 8 hop.
