Maybe it's nostalgia about my Dad but there's always a couple PBR, Miller, Natty etc in my beer fridge. He ran the gamut of cheap beer haha. Hot as balls here too. Hotter than a siracha enema.

we've broken our record for days over 90 degrees this year, with many over 100

actually High Life and PBR when poured into glass are decent beers

Agh, okay.  I understand now.  I would not mine a shift where there are still IPAs but also some other styles, variety is not a bad thing!

I'm really surprised by this.  Here in IPA central, there are tons of other choices, too.  I'm flabbergasted that the same variety doesn't exist elsewhere.

I brewed a few batches of German pils in the spring so I was prepared!

Variety in south Florida; where there's several IPA's there's always a wheat something or other thrown in along with your obligatory stout.

I made two rather light lagers for summer and both came out awesome. Now my Feb/March brewing mainstays.

It depends on the shops you go to I guess.  Some will have some nice craft lagers and something other than IPA but it seems IPA and gose or fast sours are prevalent.  Heck, there are many breweries that brew nothing but IPA these days.

I also feel I make pretty decent beer. I do however buy more commercial beer than I should. Not because their beer is better but because I'm not brewing enough to keep up with demand. I'm slowly working on changing that. One of my hang ups is I'm not sold on dry yeast and even though making a starter from liquid yeast is fairly easy and really not that time consuming I've found the time to make starters is a PIA. I need to fire up the big ass canner and get some canned starters going again and that would fix that issue.

Back to commercial beer. I think beer prices are (pardon my language) is fecking insane. Breweries like Ballast Point and DFH, for example, charging $15/6 for IpA is outrageous. My goal is to find a comparative beer for $8-9/6. It is getting harder and harder to do this. I realize the cost of ingredients etc is getting higher and higher all the time but I also think there is some greed there. I picked up some singles of DFH 60 and 90 the other day for $2 and some change each. Mehhh, not again. I've decided that these expensive beers I will just buy a single pint at some of the local tap houses to try out and save my money at the LQS. Also, our local pubs are making outstanding beers charging way less.

Yup!  I am getting tired of $4-5+ for a single 16oz can.

If I've got beer on tap, I don't buy commercial beer.   Fresh beer just plain tastes better!

Well, made it through the weekend w/o any $$"R&D"$$ at the local beer store hahaha. I did however keg a Belgian Brown and brewed my take on an Oktoberfest with 34/70. With the quick Lager method, this one will be pouring in about 3 weeks.

Agreed. A few taps in the house is perfect, I have 3 picnic's going at any given time.
