https://beeradvocate...rofile/142/1946Anyone know which strain Franziskaner uses? My boy drank a lot of this during his time in Hamburg, so I want to brew something similar for him. My guess is to use either WLP300 or WLP380.

I personally find it pretty similar to wyeast 3068 but I've never actually done a side by side. How refined is his pallet?edit: this guy claims it's their own strain: https://www.ciao.co...._Review_5281456

I wouldn't be surprised if it's their own strain but like zym said it's extremely similar to 300 and 3068 if fermented in the low to mid 60's.

Keep in mind that most Weizens are packaged with a different yeast than what is used to ferment it. Most often a lager yeast. I doubt there's a noticable differance in taste, but I wouldn't try propagating the stuff on the bottom of the bottle.
