Already packaged that way. Danstar comes in 500g packs, US05 in 11.5g paks.I thought when I picked up the Danstar the packs seems bigger. There's a thread on our club's FB page going. Interesting, they recommend a much higher pitching rate than US - 05 does. I wonder if it really matters assuming proper rehydrating before pitching.

11 gm is their homebrewer size pack. 500gm for $4 would be sweet though.Already packaged that way. Danstar comes in 500g packs, US05 in 11.5g paks.I thought when I picked up the Danstar the packs seems bigger.

I was going to start a whole new thread but I figured why not just bump this one. This has been around for a while now - what do people think? I know drez likes it although I'm not sure I've pulled a full description out of him as to what he thinks it is like (versus say, US-05, or 1056 or something). So lay it on me people!

I don't know if this is in the thread somewhere, but supposedly BRY97 is the same as WY1272.

Heard this from my lhbs last week. Maybe that is one reason I like it?I don't know if this is in the thread somewhere, but supposedly BRY97 is the same as WY1272.

Who was writing that it comes in 500 gram packages, isn't that more than 1 pound?
I used it in an IPA and it was good. But I think since it's priced about $1 more than S05, and in my mind it isn't so good as to justify spending an extra buck (especially when I don't think it's needed). The neat thing about Danstar dry yeast packages is that the package is vacuum sealed. Not sure what good that does but it is neat.

I like that yeast although I only have one sample point so my confidence in that opinion isn't that high. have you tried bry-97?

how close to 1272 do you find it? I know you've used 1272 more than I have.

Nope, haven't tried it. I'd have to make an effort to get it and there are so many other yeasts I like that I haven't been motivated to do that. I have pretty high confidence in the source that told me it';s the same as 1272, which is readily available.
