Ok got some work done this weekend. I cut my stand down by 6". I think it's going to be perfect now, about 34" to the top of the table now. I built a shelve for the bottom where I will mount the pumps. I also built a upper support for the stainless shelve to rest on.

I had a buddy of mine shear me up a couple pieces of stainless I then screwed to the wall for a back splash, total cost $40. Then bolted up the shelve to the wall after some leveling.

Finally the pots for some visual progress!

Yeah the hood is the next thing on the list to buy. I am also going to get started working on the control panel in the next week, I have all the components for that.

What PID did you decide to go with?

All Auber Instruments, for the BK and MLT the SYL-2352 and the HLT a SWA-2451. The 2451 has a built in timer so I can set it and have hot water ready after work or when I wake up to strike in with.

Nice - let me know how that works for you - I have some SYL-2362s with type K thermocouples and a ASL-51 timer I'll be working into a 2 tier gas fired rig here in the months to come

Sounds awesome! I also have a timer I'm going to work in but I ended up going with the JSL-71. Really only because it has a red and green display that matches the PID's and I'm anal like that. Hoping to know how this whole thing works by about fall time.

Not to speak for them but when I did use a PID for boiling I would just run mine in manual mode and dial it back to about 70-80%.

I have not used mine yet obviously, but this is pretty much what I've heard.

I run mine as a tight deadband, proportional only, control, IE no integral or derivative functions. Sometime  I have to run it a degree hotter to get the boil I want, sometimes a degree lower to keep it from boiling over.

Matt, are you adding in audible alarms to your box? If so, what are you using?

Would you mind posting some details of your system either here of in a new thread?

I have just a small red light with built in buzzer that I got from ebrewsupply.com. I will be hooking it up to my alarm and PID.

This reminds me I need to wire my alarm/indicator light up for my timer.  I have had the indicator in place just never wired up.  I guess after 2 years it is time.

I run mine in automatic mode with the set point at 195°F. I also set the alarm for the same temp. When I hear the alarm go off, I switch over to manual mode at about 80% duty cycle to bring it up the last few degrees. I watch it like a hawk until the boil breaks because it will try to foam over on me.
