I run mine in automatic mode with the set point at 195°F. I also set the alarm for the same temp. When I hear the alarm go off, I switch over to manual mode at about 80% duty cycle to bring it up the last few degrees. I watch it like a hawk until the boil breaks because it will try to foam over on me.
I've got to look into the manual mode. I'm not certain that mine has that feature, but It's been a while since I've dabbled in the settings. I don't have the model mentioned in this thread.

In my PID there is a small fuse just to protect the internal electronics. As for the rest of the external circuitry, that's protected with a 50 amp GFCI at the main panel and 20 amp branch breakers,

What size fuze are you using to protect the PID?
I do believe the Auber PID's have a internal fuse. I am also putting a 15amp breaker inside the panel for feeding all the 110v stuff.

Well I've had quite a few set backs this year on the progress of the build. But I have done a few things recently. I got some free enclosures for the control panel from my old job. The only problem was there was a large hole cut-out on the door panel. That is why I have used a piece of plastic on the front door to fill the hole.
I mounted the control panel on a wall tv mount. It basically sat in this state for the last few months until today I took it down to start wiring.
I did some pre-wiring to the components on the back panel before I dropped it in.
Also got the front panel all cut-out and components mounted. Will start wiring the rest of the box this week. More to come soon.

Looking good. I see you went with a single Volt/Amp meter as opposed to the 2 separate ones. I like the one you went with better.

Yeah room was tight and the ones you gave me needed a power supply so that was more space. Plus with the red and green display it will match the PID's. I can send them back to you if you like, I even have power supplies now!

Nope, keep them or give em away. I have no use for them.
I know what you mean about matching, I had one other device I wanted to add to mine but just wanted to have everything have a red display.

What would something like that cost minus the PID's?
I can see your wheels turning .. come over the the dark side... we have treats!
I'm half way considering building another control panel when I'm done with mine
I have enough around to do the same. I was thinking of building up a simple single vessel electric BIAB system for 5g batches. I even thought about going smaller like 3g so it could all be run off a 120 outlet. I really do not need another project though.

Where would one get started learning about doing such a thing?

You could check out theelectricbrewery.com. That is the most detailed explanation I have seen on the web. Head to the forums and I believe plenty of people have gone the BIAB route.Where would one get started learning about doing such a thing?
